Sums it up.

I’m dropping some cash and joining a legit CrossFit gym. YUP. I’m pumped. I went Head Hunters, the name of the gym, on Tuesday for the first time and did a workout of the day (WOD) with a friend of mine who is already a member. He said that I needed to come and workout there and quit ‘improvising’ my crossfit workouts at the gym. So I did…and I was hooked. It had a ‘garage gym’ feel to it.

You show up to a warehouse looking complex and there’s a simple sign hanging out side a loading bay door that reads ‘Head Hunters CrossFit MMA’. We went inside and it was hot. No air conditioning. So far so good. Inside it was wide open. They had an octagon fight ring for mixed martial arts, padded flooring for MMA practice, open area for weight lifting, a scaffolding assembly in the middle with more pull up bars than I could dream about, olympic rings hung from the ceiling along with climbing ropes. Off to the side there were squat racks and bench presses. Bumpers were stacked in front of a mirror to be easily accessible.

The workout we did was:

5 rounds of:
10 x 30in. Box Jumps
10 x KB Snatch, 44lbs
10 x Deadlift, 205lbs
400m Sandbag run

Time: 25:04

It was awesome being able to do all those different exercise disciplines seamlessly. Dropping the deadlift bar and transitioning to a 400m sandbag run is not even possible at a traditional gym. That’s why I like this gym so much. It’s not traditional. It’s different than my usual gym experience of simply: weights, cardio, weights, cardio.

I’m joining this weekend. I’ll come back with pictures and sore muscles…very sore muscles. I’m motivated.

You need to stay motivated too!
